  Destination Information

Durrës is a port city on the shores of the Adriatic Sea in the western part of Albania, west of the capital Tirana. It is known for its huge Roman amphitheatre. Nearby is a 9th-century church with walls covered in mosaics. The Durrës Archaeological Museum exhibits pieces from the Greek, Hellenistic and Roman periods. Durrësi's wide beach has shallow water. Nearby is the former summer residence of King Zog, who ruled the country in the 20th century.
